Roundabout Mosaic

A colorful mosaic enlivens a popular pathway and celebrates native plants.

Objectives

  • Beautify the roundabout at Sycamore Avenue on the pathway.
  • Raise awareness about native plants and flowers.
  • Enhance the pathway with art that connects to community.

Features

  • 300-square-foot mosaic, with high fire tile and glass accents, designed and installed by artist Wilma Wyss.
  • Botannical plant name tiles by Bevilaquastudio.
  • Two days of on-site workshops to engage the local community.
  • Allows for future integration into Parks Dedication Program.

Timeline

  • Winter 2018–Spring 2019: Site assessment; research; design.
  • May 2019: Community mosaic build.
  • August 2019: Work completed.
