In partnership with Dominican University, the County of Marin will offer its second customized Leadership Development Academy beginning September 19 and concluding on December 14. The class size will be limited to 24 participants.
When will the Leadership Academy be held?
All classes (except for the last on December 14) are a full 8-hour day and will be delivered on Wednesdays and Fridays. Listed below are the class dates:
- September 19 and 21
- October 5, 17, and 19
- November 2, 14, 16, and 30
- December 12 and 14
Participants are required to attend all classes in order to obtain a certificate. We will be requesting a commitment from each participant to meet this requirement.
Where will the classes be held?
All classes will be taught on the campus of Dominican University in San Rafael. The locations will vary from class to class and participants will be informed of classroom locations prior to the class.
How can I learn more about the Leadership Academy?
The Leadership Academy Design Team is made up of 10 Marin employees who completed the program at Dominican in 2011. They are hosting several Information Sessions to answer questions and share their experiences. The schedule is below:
- 1 session at the Wellness Campus – June 20 (9:00-10:00) – Kerner #110
- 1 session at the Civic Center – June 21 (3:00-4:00) – Board Chambers, Room 330
The Design Team is passionate about this program and as their time allows, any member of the group would be happy to talk with interested employees. The team includes Vikki Loufakis, Linda Dahl, Don Wick, Teresa Tillman, Jason Weber, Tom Lai, Heather Ravani, Cristine Alilovich, Rwena Holaday and Joanne Peterson.
How can I be considered for the Leadership Academy?

The application will ask interested employees to provide a one page response to 3 questions regarding their personal development and career path. In addition, each applicant will need to obtain a letter of support from their supervisor that has been endorsed by their department head.
