This 6.6 acre beach, near the town of Bolinas, provides access to almost two miles of ocean shoreline at low tide. Together with adjacent Duxbury Reef, Agate Beach offers amazing opportunities to explore tide pools filled with marine life, general beach recreation, wildflower viewing, bird watching, and on clear days, incredible views to the Farallones and beyond. Agate Beach is part of the Duxbury Reef State Marine Reserve, which includes state and federal agency jurisdictions and signifies its status as a sensitive and highly protected resource area. Marin County Parks Department jurisdiction includes the upland area. When visiting Agate Beach, please remember that collecting marine resources is prohibited, though dogs are allowed on leash, they are prohibited from entering tide pools, and stay on trails for safety and habitat protection.

From Hwy 101 in Larkspur, take the Sir Francis Drake Blvd exit west to Olema, turn left at Hwy 1/Shoreline Hwy, turn left at Olema Bolinas Rd, turn right at Mesa Rd, turn left at Overlook Rd, and turn right at Elm Rd. A large parking lot is at the end of Elm Rd on the left.
