Temporary Trail Closures at Roy’s Redwoods Preserve

Following the wildfire on October 14, 2014, the David Hansen Trail and the Meadow Trail are closed until further notice. The MCOSD has closed the trails to protect visitor health and safety, and in conjunction with fire department investigative efforts.

The Marin County Open Space District (MCOSD) manages approximately 249 miles of fire roads and trails on 34 open space preserves. Certain fire roads and trails are temporarily closed because of wet weather conditions, natural hazards, wildland fire, construction activities, and/or resource restoration projects. Fire roads and trails are closed to protect natural resources and user safety. Depending on site conditions, closures may affect some or all uses including bicyclists, equestrians, pedestrians, and vehicles.

MCOSD posts closure signs at trailheads to notify visitors of current use restrictions and to remind visitors to use alternate routes. Please cooperate with closure restrictions while visiting MCOSD lands; violators are subject to citation. Conditions and closures may change without notice on a daily basis due to weather, natural hazards, wildland fire, and/or MCOSD activities. Visit related pages to learn about safety, MCOSD rules and regulations, and MCOSD policies.
